A warning from the Tulsa Animal Shelter, after several dogs turn up severely burned.

Now investigators are trying to figure out who's responsible.
Fox 23 has learned these wounded animals started showing up just after the Fourth of July.

Lee Ann Mitten of Animal Control is urging you to make sure you know the whereabouts of your animals so you can keep them safe. This, after *several* dogs have been found with what are believed to be  *deliberate* burns.

One boxer pup has severe burns down its back.  Vets think the dog has been burned by a caustic chemical, perhaps some kind of acid.
Veterinary staffers at the animal shelter say they're disturbed by the deliberate abuse and the repeat pattern. Veterinary technician, Lea Anne Mitten said, "We've had about four other dogs come in that I've seen in the last two weeks, similar wounds, similar burns. They start right back here on the neck, run straight down the spine, to the base of the tail."

Another of the burned animals picked up by the Tulsa Animal Shelter didn't survive his injuries.

If you have any information on these cases, call the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office at (918) 596-5704.
